Fermoy St. Payricks Day

Fermoy 2012 Grand Marshal

Sr. Nuala Reidy

When I came to town about 30 years ago, I loved the Chorals, the choirs and all things musical.  The name Sr. Nuala kept cropping up, she was always there, always involved, always committed.

Fermoy owes much to Sr. Nuala for all the pleasure she has brought us through training young singers throughout all her years in Loreto.  Just think of it, all of those beautiful girls who learned to sing, who grew up and travelled to the four corners of the world, bringing pleasure through song from Loreto, Fermoy.  Many went on to have children and they probably sing too.

The late historian, Padhraig Ó Broin, once said that the Choral Society in Fermoy was a wonderful unifying force after the civil war in this area.  It didn’t matter what your politics or religion was as long as you had a good voice.  This tradition has continued down through the years and Sr. Nuala played a huge part.

It is our pleasure to ask Sr. Nuala to be the Grand Marshal for the 2012 parade.
